With June almost here, just in the nick of time, Microsoft announced what games are incoming to Xbox Live Gold members for free next month. The four freebies that will be available for subscribers are split between Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles. However, as usual, the two Xbox 360 games are also playable on Xbox One thanks to backward compatibility.
Here are the free Games with Gold titles for the month of June:
EA Sports NHL 19 (Xbox One: June 1 - 30)
Play on outdoor rinks and journey from the ponds to the pros in new and returning modes. Compete with and against 200 of the greatest hockey legends to hit the ice, including Gretzky. New gameplay tech delivers explosive-edge skating with more acceleration, speed and responsiveness.
Rivals of Aether (Xbox One: June 16 - July 15)
Rivals of Aether is an indie fighting game set in a world where warring civilizations summon the power of Fire, Water, Air, and Earth. Play with up to four players locally or up to two players online.
Portal: Still Alive (Xbox One, Xbox 360: June 1 - 15)
As unwilling test subjects in a sinister laboratory, players must break the laws of physics using ‘portal’ technology to solve puzzles and survive.
Earth Defense Force 2017 (Xbox 360, Xbox One: June 16 - 30)
"Earth Defense Force" is a shooting action game and follow-up to "THE Earth Defense Force" and "THE Earth Defense Force 2", released in Japan. In this game, the player becomes a soldier of an international army, the EDF, trying to defeat an alien army that suddenly arrives on Earth.
Note that Portal: Still Alive is the name of the Xbox 360 port of the original Portal by Valve, and it comes with some additional goodies.
Since this is a rather late announcement, there"s not much time left on some of the current Games with Gold before they expire. Marooners and The Golf Club 2019 are still available to grab for Xbox One owners, while Xbox 360 players can claim Comic Jumper.
And speaking of subscription services, Microsoft announced today that Xbox Game Pass is heading to PC, coming included with over 100 games of its own.
