The Humble Store"s Fall Sale began today, and it is celebrating by giving away Killer is Dead: Nightmare Edition for no charge at all. When the hack-and-slash title initially launched back in 2013, it was exclusive to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 4, but an enhanced PC version followed in 2014.
Developed by the Japanese studio, Grasshopper Manufacture, the game has players take the role of Mondo Zappa, an assassin wielding a katana and a cybernetically enhanced left arm that can be changed into various weapons. Suffice to say, there is plenty of hacking and slashing in this game.
As listed on the game"s store page, the PC-exclusive Nightmare Edition arrives with these additional features:
- New difficulty mode called Nightmare Mode. In this mode, enemies can only be defeated using the following attacks: Adrenaline Burst, Dodge Burst, Headshots, so the gameplay requires far more skill and tactics. Players will not be able to use the Final Judgement finisher (QTE mode) to defeat enemies.
- Theater Mode - Rewatch cutscenes and get extended background information on characters, helping to unravel the story after your 1st playthrough
- Smooth Operator Pack for console will be included, which includes X-ray glasses, bewitching outfits, stunning beauties, and a killer new mission and boss!
Although the game was well-received in Japan, it did not make a significant impact in the West. Nonetheless, it doesn"t hurt to try the game out, or at least make it a new addition to the backlog, considering it is free.
Ordinarily available for $19.99, Killer is Dead - Nightmare Edition is free to claim for the next two days at the Humble Store. The store will provide a key that is redeemable on Steam.
