Sony"s exclusive first person shooter, Killzone 2 has surpassed the one million sales mark worldwide. The news comes as the March NPD data was released yesterday and the company made a response to figures, via Gamasutra.
They stated the game "has garnered the biggest initial success at retail of any first party PS3 title to date, and will continue to drive incentive for hardware sales throughout the year."
Killzone 2 has managed to stay in the US charts top 10 for over two months now and previously Sony released figures, claiming that Killzone 2 had sold over 500K units and became the fastest selling Sony-published title in America.
Sony then continued to bring attention to their review scores saying "approximately one in every three PlayStation 3 titles achieve Metacritic scores of 80 or higher, which affirms PlayStation"s proven track record in delivering rich and relevant entertainment content."
However in a more general response to the poor hardware numbers for the console, Sony"s Patrick Seybold stated their outlook on the future and they are not worried about the present. Many had hoped Killzone 2 would be more of a console seller, and despite good previews and reviews the game sold less hardware than expected. They also didn"t release figures on Resident Evil 5 sales, which only managed to reach 4th place in comparison to the Xbox 360 version which took the top spot. However Sony did enjoy having 3 titles in the top 10 overall, including those already mentioned the console"s exclusive baseball game MLB 09: The Show which took 6th place.
