New Zealand based cloud storage company Mega, Ltd has launched MegaChat, a video and chat service that promises end-to-end encryption.
At the end of December, Kim Dotcom, the founder of Mega, announced that his company would be launching a browser based "video call and chat service" with a major focus on privacy. Now, within just one month of the announcement, MegaChat is already in public beta.
Users can try out video calling using MegaChat at the moment, while text chat and video conferencing features are still being developed. The service also integrates with the Mega cloud storage system to enable encrypted file sharing.
Kim Dotcom has offered a bounty to users who can break the security of MegaChat, as end-to-end encryption is the service"s most important feature against Skype which has been allegedly spied upon by government agencies.
