You knew it was only a matter of time. Whenever a new technology is created, people look for a way to turn it towards sex; Microsoft’s Kinect is no different. According to seattlepi.com, a company called ThriXXX has created an alpha version of a virtual sex game that uses the Kinect controller to manipulate an on-screen character. A video teaser from the game is available on YouTube as well as on the ThriXXX website (NSFW!).
The current alpha of the game consists of virtual woman being fondled by the Kinect user"s hand, but it"s not hard to see what the developer is planning for the future. Brad Abram, the vice president of business development for ThriXXX, explains that sex involves visual, auditory, and tactile responses. The Kinect takes care of the first two pieces of the puzzle, while their “Vstroker USB device” can take care of the latter part of the equation.
Microsoft has been speaking out against the open source drivers for Kinect, and as expected have once against expressed their stance that any use of the technology that is not sanctioned by Microsoft is illegal:
This isn"t the first example of a technology being used in ways not intended by its manufacturer, and it won"t be the last. Microsoft did not authorize or license its technology for this use and will take appropriate action against violations of its intellectual property. Xbox is a family-friendly games and entertainment console and does not allow Adults Only (AO) content to be certified for use on its platform, and would not condone this type of game for Kinect.
Although the game will most likely never see the light of day on an actual Xbox, the company appears to be ready to create and distribute it for customers using PCs.
