KitchenAid announces a waterproof smart display powered by Google Assistant

Whirlpool has kicked off its product lineup for the year at CES 2019 in Las Vegas with the launch of a new smart display unit called the KitchenAid Smart Display. Unlike most of the other products in the market, such as Amazon"s Echo Show, Google"s Home Hub, and Lenovo"s Smart Display, this one is water-resistant with a rating of IPX5. This means the device can be used free of fear in the kitchen, where stray water jets might splash the screen in the midst of cooking or washing dishes.

KitchenAid"s touchscreen model has a width of 10-inches and it comes with built-in Google Assistant. Users can make calls on the device, surf through YouTube videos, or even seek culinary help from Yummly - another creation of KitchenAid"s parent company, Whirlpool. In terms of connectivity, the smart display can link up to any other smart home devices.

The KitchenAid Smart Display will be available for purchase in the second half of this year, with a price range between $200 and $300.
