Konami may be bringing back a number of its most popular franchises with new entries and remakes for Metal Gear, Castlevania, and Silent Hill. This is according to multiple sources close to the projects that have talked to VGC.
Per the report, the original Metal Gear Solid games are gaining remasters for modern platforms, while a major new project is also in the works that is centered around Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Singapore-based studio Virtuos is reportedly involved in developing the new game, which may be a complete remake. The studio has previously worked on high profile games such as Uncharted 4, Outer Worlds, Jedi: Fallen Order, Dark Souls Remastered, and more for additional development work and porting help.
Continuing the report, Castlevania"s return is apparently being handled by an internal studio of Konami based in Japan, and it is described as a "reimagining" of the long-running franchise.
Corroborating other recent reports, the sources have also said multiple Silent Hill projects are in the works. Studios outside of Konami are reportedly working on these titles, including a "prominent Japanese developer". Per the sources, Konami has become open to working with external studios after the poor performances of titles like Metal Gear Survive and Contra: Rogue Corps, and the recent restructuring efforts.
All of the aforementioned franchises have been absent from the spotlight for many years now, and there are definitely fans hungry and waiting for worthwhile new entries, though eFootball doesn"t give much confidence. As always, take the report with a grain of salt until any of these projects get official confirmations from Konami.
