Apple’s bigger iPad, which has been rumored for a long while now, is reportedly facing some significant delays and won’t begin production until the autumn.
The bigger iPad, also referred to as the iPad Pro, has been rumored for a long time now as a potential answer to Apple’s tablet troubles. The company’s tablet line has seen falling sales for a straight year, thanks in part to the new, bigger iPhone 6 models that have proven so popular with consumers.
A larger iPad, with stylus support, was also seen as Apple’s way to reaffirm its commitment to the business sector, where devices like Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3 and other convertibles are making inroads.
But all of those plans are seemingly on hold if a report from Bloomberg is correct. According to people familiar with the matter, Apple is delaying the production of the larger iPad, which will now commence in September instead of this quarter.
The delay is supposedly caused by the lack of 12.9 inch display panels, which was the rumored size of the new iPad’s screen. As such a proper launch of an “iPad Pro” might only take place before the holidays.
Of course Apple hasn’t confirmed any of these rumors and reports, so you should take this with a grain of salt.
