Larian puts Divinity: Fallen Heroes on hold to focus on Baldur's Gate III

The developer behind the critically acclaimed Divinity series, Larian Studios, today announced a change in plans for Divinity: Fallen Heroes, the Divinity: Original Sin 2 tactical combat spin-off title that was announced earlier this year. Larian has decided to put the game"s development on hold, meaning next month"s release will no longer happen.

The spin-off had been in development in partnership with the studio Logic Artists, but after considering the "development time and resources" that would be required to complete the project "in a fun and sustainable way," the game has been shelved for now. Logic Artists will also be parting ways with Larian to work on their own Expeditions series.

"We strongly believe that bringing Fallen Heroes to fans should be done in a timeline that allows it to be developed soundly," said Larian Studios, keeping the door open for a future continuation. "We value the work that everyone put in to Fallen Heroes, and though we lament its status as of now, we all agree that there"s a great game in there that will sometime reach the players who await it."

Baldur"s Gate III is what Larian is focusing its attention on, the much-awaited sequel to the classic BioWare role-playing saga.
