Latest Microsoft Store opens in Bridgewater, New Jersey

Microsoft keeps slowly adding new locations to its Microsoft Store retail operation. Today, the company launched its latest store in Bridgewater, New Jersey.

MyCentralNewJersey.com reports that hundreds of patrons were waiting in line for the opening of the 3,800 square foot store this morning at the Bridgewater Commons shopping mall. As Microsoft usually does when it launches a new retail location, it makes it more of an event. Later on Saturday evening, the band OneRepublic will perform in a free concert for those Microsoft Store shoppers who got there early enough to get wrist bands.

On Sunday, the new store will feature an appearance by New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning, who is scheduled to play Xbox 360 Kinect-based games with selected shoppers.

This is the 17th Microsoft Store location to open, all of which have been in the US. Microsoft has officially announced plans to open at least five more stores and there are rumors of even more stores that will be launched in the near future. However, the current pace of store launches is not keeping up with Microsoft"s previous announcement in July 2011 that it would open as many as 75 new stores in the next two to three years.
