Microsoft released its latest Windows 10 Mobile preview, build 10080, less than a week ago, making it available to intrepid testers on the bleeding-edge Fast ring of the Windows Insider program. But if you"ve been looking forward to its arrival on the more stable Slow ring, it looks like you"re out of luck.
Build 10080 included a range of new features and improvements, but unsurprisingly - given that this is pre-release software still in development - it was also released with various known issues and bugs. However, as many of our readers noted in our recent discussion on the new build, it"s also burdened with many other problems that weren"t documented in the company"s release notes.
These problems haven"t gone unnoticed by Microsoft, and it seems that the company is leaning towards limiting build 10080 to the Fast ring, and withholding it from the Slow ring entirely.
As noted by WinBeta, Gabe Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, said yesterday on Twitter that this build "isn"t likely" to make it to the Slow ring, as a direct result of these problems. One particularly frustrating bug, for example, prevents the Start screen from appearing, indefinitely displaying a "Loading..." screen instead.
Aul said that those on the Slow ring will likely have to wait for the next build beyond 10080 - but of course, that build will also be released first to the Fast ring before the company eventually determines whether or not it"s stable enough for Slow ring deployment.
Meanwhile, Windows Insiders helped Microsoft to make a decision today on the release of its next Windows 10 Insider Preview for PCs, build 10122, which will soon be made available on the Fast ring.
