Three weeks from now, Microsoft will release the long awaited "Consumer Preview" version of Windows 8. However, it looks like the company is still internally testing beta release candidate builds for the "Consumer Preview" edition. Now the reliable Windows 8-themed site Winunleaked.tk reports that the version number for the beta candidate build for Windows 8 has been updated yet again.
According to the site"s Windows 8 builds list, the latest build number for the beta release candidate is officially called 8227.0.winmain_win8beta.120207-1903. In addition, the site also has the beta candidate release build number for Windows 8 Server. For those keeping score at home, the beta sever build number is 8226.0.winmain_win8beta_srv.120207-2235. Previously it was reported that Windows 8 had entered what is known as its Beta Escrow period, where internal testers will keep testing builds of the operating system until it is ready to be released.
Microsoft itself released a new screenshot today showing an earlier beta release candidate build, 8225. It won"t be long now before the Consumer Preview will be available to all PC users.
