Back in June, Indian devices brand XOLO launched its first Windows Phone, the Win Q900s. Today, XOLO"s parent company, Lava, announced the launch of its own self-branded Windows Phone, the Iris Win1.
The device sits alongside various Iris Android phones in Lava"s range, and - like most of the new brands that have joined Windows Phone this year - the Win1 is aimed squarely at the entry level of the market. The handset"s features include:
- 4-inch WVGA (800x480px) display
- Quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200
- 1GB RAM
- 8GB onboard storage (plus microSD support up to 32GB)
- 5MP rear camera with LED flash
- 0.3MP front-facing camera
- Accelerometer, proximity sensor and ambient light sensor
- 1950mAh battery
Those specs are pretty decent for an entry-level device - especially the inclusion of an LED flash, selfie-cam and a full 1GB of RAM. What"s even more remarkable is that Lava will be making the Iris Win1 available for just Rs.4,999 (roughly $81), making it one of the most affordable smartphones in India.
As Windows Central reports, the device will be available to buy from December 4, and it even includes a flip cover and screen guard in the box. That seems like astonishing value for the new Windows Phone, and a very compelling package for those shopping for a new smartphone on a budget.
Of course, not everyone in India is on the lookout for a low-cost device. Smartphone buyers there with deeper pockets might want to consider the OnePlus One, which launched in India today.
