When Google launched the Nexus 6 last year, the Motorola-made device took a step upmarket over its predecessor. While the Nexus 5 was widely regarded as an affordable flagship, its successor was positioned as a true range-topper, with high-end specs and a price tag to match.
Rumors in recent months have indicated that the Nexus 6 will be replaced by two handsets: a 5.2-inch model made by LG, and a 5.7-inch phablet from Huawei. Today, semi-retired leaker @evleaks posted a few details about the larger device:
He describes the Huawei model as featuring a metal body, along with a 5.7-inch display with QHD ("Quad HD" or 2560x1440px) resolution, which lines up with earlier rumors. On top of this, the device is said to feature a fingerprint reader, and Qualcomm"s next-generation Snapdragon 820 processor.
Given that many devices - including the OnePlus 2 and Microsoft"s next Lumia flagship - will come with a Snapdragon 810, this may well put the new Nexus range-topper ahead of its other premium rivals.
The new Nexus will reportedly go on sale in Q4 of this year - and if that"s accurate, it means the device will launch sometime after the rollout of the new Android "M" release later this quarter.
