Google"s Gmail web-based email service may soon be getting some added features and some improvements, if a leaked video is true and not an elaborate hoax. The video found its way to YouTube (ironically also owned by Google) via a blog site owned by Carlos A. Jimenez and has one of its team members, Jason Cornwell, showing off the new additions to Gmail.
One of the new improvements shown in the video is that Gmail"s interface will automatically resize to any browser window siz that you designate. Users can also pick the kind of pixel display density they wish to show.
If you send multiple emails to a person or persons, the new version of Gmail will make those email threads look more like chat conversations rather than the standard email interface. There"s even going to be support for adding a profile picture in your message. Speaking of chat, the Google chat window and the labels list interfaces to the left of Gmail"s messages can both be adjusted to become smaller or larger, if the video is correct.
Searching for things inside your email messages should be easier in the future version of Gmail, thanks in part to a filter feature that can be accessed right out of the search box. Finally, you will be able add some high resolution background images to make your Gmail experience more colorful.
So far Google has yet to comment about this leaked video. However, if it is legit, Gmail users should see these new improvements and features in the very near future.
