We’ve now had a few months since Nvidia introduced its new generation of graphics cards. The markets seem to have caught up to demand, and so have the OEMs, but there’s one card that was rumored but never publicly shown off – the GTX 1050. Now, credible leaks confirm previous reports and also come with a big surprise. Nvidia has confirmed all of these details officially.
It wasn’t that long ago that the entry-level GTX 1050’s insides were leaked online, though the card itself was never officially confirmed by Nvidia. Fast-forward to today, and some very promising leaks are filing in the gaps. First up, the GTX 1050 isn’t just one card, it’s actually two. That’s because there’s also a GTX 1050 Ti edition, with the latter being the one that had previously leaked.
According to some legitimate-looking slides received by our friends at Videocardz, these are the specs, the launch date, and the prices you can expect for the GeForce GTX 1050 and the GTX 1050 Ti.
As you can see the specs are very much the same ones that had been leaked previously for the GTX 1050 Ti, and there’s nothing really surprising here. The GTX 1050 Ti will come with 768 CUDA cores, 4GB DDR5 memory, and a 75W TDP. Meanwhile the standard GTX 1050 will only feature 640 CUDA cores, 2GB DDR5 and the same 75W TDP.
The prices are very welcome additions, and the expected launch dates are in line with previous reports. The GTX 1050 is expected to launch with a price tag of $109 while the Ti version pushes that up to $139. According to the same slides, lots of different companies will be putting out cards with the GTX 1050 Ti chip, including: Asus, Gigabyte, EVGA, MSI, Zotac and others.
All that’s left right now is to wait for the October 25th launch date and see if Nvidia follows through with this plan.
Update: Nvidia has just confirmed all of these details, including pricing. The GTX 1050 Ti will launch on October 25, while the GTX 1050 will become available "on or before" November 8th.
