LeEco aims high with range-topping Cool-branded smartphone

After acquiring a controlling stake in Coolpad earlier this year, LeEco released a mid-range smartphone in the form of the Cool 1 sporting a 5.5-inch 1080p display, dual cameras, and powered by a Snapdragon 652 chipset with at least 3GB RAM.

Now, it seems that LeEco has another phone in the works. After recently having passed TENAA network certification, LeEco appears to be readying a new handset under the Cool brand, with specs that should put it in flagship territory, including:

  • 5.5-inch 1080p display
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset
  • Android 6.0.1
  • 16MP / 8MP front and rear cameras
  • 4 / 6GB RAM
  • 32 / 64 / 128GB storage
  • 4,000mAH battery

Interestingly, the devices bear striking similarity to the Le Pro 3, which was recently released in the US, in terms of both specifications and cosmetic appearance, particularly with elements such as the camera sensor, dual-LED flash, and external antenna bands.

While no further details on this handset are currently available, including whether or not it will include a 3.5mm headphone jack absent from the Le Pro 3, it is anticipated that more information will become available in the coming days.
