Left 4 Dead 2’s “The Passing” arrives today - Play it with Valve employees!

Two updated posts on the official Left 4 Dead blog revealed further details on the upcoming DLC pack “The Passing.” On an earlier blog post made last Friday, they promised to release the DLC pack this week. They have now announced the DLC pack will be available today, April 22 - hopefully sometime during the day, assuming their clocks are not running on Valve Time.

On Monday, Valve shared 10 new achievements that will come with “The Passing.” The achievements mention new items in the Left 4 Dead universe: a golf club as a melee weapon, foot lockers, a new M-60 firearm, and mutations. Today’s blog post explains what mutations are:

“The Passing also introduces a series of weekly game mode events dubbed "Mutations." These week-long runs of new gameplay modes range from "Realism Versus" mode to "Chainsaw Massacre," which gives all players chainsaws with an unlimited supply of gasoline. There are over 20 Mutations planned, each playable on all L4D2 Campaigns. Mutations are exclusively available to owners of "The Passing" DLC.”

In addition to the above, there will also be a new “uncommon common” zombie class, the Fallen Infected (similar to the hazmat wearing zombies), a new co-op mode, and of course The Passing redone as a Versus map.
