As one of the first announcements to come out of Microsoft"s Ignite 2017 conference, Lenovo announced the ThinkSmart Hub 500. The device is aimed at conference rooms to "embrace the digital transformation of modern workspaces." Built in collaboration with Microsoft, it"s a Skype Rooms Systems device that runs Windows 10 IoT Enterprise.
The 11.6-inch display can be rotated a full 360 degrees, and includes Dolby Audio Premium, 360-degree array microphones, and a touchscreen. As we"ve seen from companies like Logitech, it aims to simplify the process of setting up video conferences in medium workspaces and huddle rooms, as Lenovo says that they can take up to ten minutes to set up.
"Workplace transformation begins with collaboration. As workforces are changing, businesses need to provide tools to enable efficiency and teamwork in the office and with colleagues around the world. One obvious need for change is in how meetings are conducted, including the ongoing issue of the wrong technology to get meetings started quickly. This wasted time can cost businesses millions in lost productivity, so we’re thrilled the ThinkSmart Hub 500 can help solve that issue," said Christian Teismann, senior vice president and general manager, Commercial Business Segment, Lenovo PCSD. "Together with Microsoft, we are excited to combine our skills and expertise to help customers enable smarter meeting rooms with devices like the ThinkSmart Hub 500."
Pricing and availability haven"t been announced just yet, but that news is expected to arrive in the first quarter of 2018.
