Lenovo is announcing nine new ThinkPad laptops today, including a refreshed T-series, L-series, X270, and Yoga 370. All of the new devices will include Intel"s seventh-generation Kaby Lake Core i-series processors.
Also, they"re all Signature PCs, which means that you can expect a bloatware-free experience. This will be a big deal for anyone that may have lost faith in the brand due to some issues with third-party malware.
Lenovo"s ThinkPad Yoga 370 will include a new 13.3-inch 1080p display, along with up to 16GB of DDR4 RAM, up to 1TB SSD, and 10 hours of battery life. It also includes Thunderbolt 3, which means that it will be USB Type-C. The GPU Intel HD Graphics 620, but a Thunderbolt 3 port can handle up to two 4K monitors.
The ThinkPad Yoga 370 will be available beginning in March, starting at $1,264.
Lenovo says that the ThinkPad T470 is meant to be the "standard 14" workhorse" for business deployments, "complete with the long standing security and management features, along with the de facto MilSpec certification."
It sports a 14-inch 1080p display, 32GB DDR4 RAM, GeForce 940MX GPU with 2GB GDDR5, Thunderbolt 3, an Ethernet port, Windows 10 Pro, and the company is promising 18 hours of battery life. The T470 will be available in February, starting at $914.
Also aimed at the business market, the ThinkPad T570 is similar to the T470, but with a 15.6-inch 1080p touchscreen; however, it also offers a model with a 4K non-touch display. Unfortunately, there"s no option for 4K and touch.
Lenovo says that this iteration of the T570 is 8% lighter than its predecessor at 4.4-pounds, and 10% thinner. It will be available in March, starting at $909.
The ThinkPad T470s, unlike the T470, uses integrated graphics, but this is an ultrabook that weighs under 3-pounds and is under 19mm thick. The 14-inch display is offered in 1080p and 1440p, but only the FHD model comes with a touchscreen.
It also promises up to 10.5 hours of battery life, up to 24GB of DDR4 RAM, supports Thunderbolt 3, and comes with either Windows 10 Home or Pro. It will be available in February, starting at $1,099.
The 470p is a bit heavier - at four pounds - than the "s" model, but it"s also more powerful. Aimed at businesses, it includes a discrete Nvidia GeForce 940MX 2GB GPU, and up to 32GB of RAM. Like the "s" model, it offers the same 14-inch display options (FHD, FHD touch, and WQHD) and an Ethernet port.
You"ll find three USB 3.0 ports on the T470p, but no Thunderbolt 3, or any USB Type-C, for that matter. It will be available in March, starting at $1,049.
The ThinkPad 13 is meant to appeal to those on a budget, such as individuals, students, and "business shops". Starting at $674, it"s certainly one of the less expensive options for a device with a Windows 10 Pro license and USB Type-C (no Thunderbolt). The display is 13.3-inch 1080p touch, and it"s available in configurations with up to 32GB DDR4 RAM and 512GB of storage. It will be available in January.
If you"ve been shopping around for a laptop with a VGA-out port, then look no further. Of course, this device is positioned as a "mainstream business" PC. The 14-inch display is available in 720p and 1080p, neither of which offers touch.
There are a number of options on the device, with integrated or discrete GPUs, up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM, and up to 1TB HDD or up to 256GB SSD. Aside from VGA-out, you"ll also find an Ethernet port, three USB 3.0, and a 4-in-1 card reader.
The ThinkPad L470 will be available in March, starting at $779.
The L570 offers similar display options as the L470, except at 15.6-inches. There are also even more ports, such as a fourth USB 3.0, and mini DisplayPort. Unfortunately, the L570 isn"t offered with a discrete GPU, but offers up to 1TB HDD or 512GB SSD.
The ThinkPad L570 will be available in March starting at $909.
Lenovo says that the X270 is a 12-inch "business road warrior" system that is "optimized around battery life with the potential of over 20 hours of run time thanks to the dual configurable battery architecture." It"s offered with 4, 8, or 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and up to 2TB HDD or 512GB SSD.
The 12.5-inch display is offered in HD or FHD touch, and the device comes in at only 2.9-pounds. It will be available in March starting at $909.
Of course, in today"s day and age of USB Type-C, there"s a need for docks and dongles. Lenovo will be offering two new docks, one of which is for standard USB Type-C, and the other is for Thunderbolt 3.
Both docks add a variety of ports to whatever device they"re attached to. The USB-C dock will be available in January for $199.99, and the Thunderbolt 3 dock will show up in February for $279.99.
And finally, Lenovo is announcing a pair of 1440p monitors, both of which will be available in April. The ThinkVision P27h and P24h have 27-inch and 23.8-inch displays, respectively, both with a 99% sRGB color gamut. The 27-inch model will cost $329, and the smaller display will be $259.
