Lenovo apparently thinks the time is right for it to launch a desktop PC made for the growing hardcore gaming PC crowd. Today, as part of its CES 2013 press announcements, the company revealed that it will launch the Erazer X700, which features a case design that looks a tad similar to Alienware"s now discontinued Area 51 PC.
Inside the Erazer X700, Lenovo has put in what it calls OneKey technology which will allow its users to overclock the Intel Core i7 Extreme processor inside with one button, rather than entering the BIOS to do the same thing. Natrually, there"s a liquid cooling system to keep things going if you want to go that route.
Inside the PC, users can choose whether or not they want to have an NVIDIA or AMD Radeon graphics card (or cards) inside. The Erazer X700 can support up to two NVIDIA GeForce GTX660 cards in SLI format, or up to two AMD Radeon HD 8950 card in a CrossFireX configuration. It supports up to 32 GB of RAM and up to 4 TB of hard drive space. It also has two hot-swap external drive bays which willl allow users to switch hard drives while the PC is still running.
Lenovo is going to make you wait a bit longer to get your hands on the Erazer X700. It"s not due to ship until June with the starting price of $1,499.
