Lenovo announces the first Snapdragon 850 Windows 10 PC, the Yoga C630

At the tail end of 2016, Microsoft and Qualcomm announced that we"d be seeing Windows 10 PCs with Qualcomm"s ARM processors, and they"d run real x86 apps through emulation. The first wave of devices used a Snapdragon 835 Mobile PC Platform, and they haven"t received great reviews. But in June, Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 850 Mobile Compute Platform, which is based on the Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform.

Today at IFA 2018, Lenovo became the first company to introduce a new PC with the Snapdragon 850, the Yoga C630. Along with the 30% boost in performance from the Snapdragon 835-powered Miix 630, the convertible PC has a 13.3-inch FHD screen, 4GB or 8GB LPDDR4X memory, and 128GB or 256GB UFS 2.1 storage. It also packs two USB 3.0 Type-C ports.

One of the biggest benefits of the Yoga C630 is that Lenovo is promising over (rather than "up to") 25 hours of battery life, which is something that no one else is offering. This comes in a chassis that"s just 12.5mm thin and weighs in at 1.2kg.

And of course, it"s an Always Connected PC, meaning that it has built-in 4G LTE. Lenovo pointed out that you can achieve speeds of 3x to 7x your home internet connection, as the Snapdragon X20 modem supports download speeds of up to 1.2Gbps.

The Lenovo Yoga C630 will be available in November, starting at $849.99.
