Lenovo announces the ThinkSmart Hub 700 for a better meeting room experience

At Infocomm 2018 today, Lenovo announced the ThinkSmart Hub 700, adding to its portfolio of meeting room solutions. Back at Ignite last September, the firm announced the ThinkSmart Hub 500, which works with Skype, Zoom, and more.

The ThinkSmart Hub 700 aims to solve various problems in meeting spaces, such as unreliable connectivity, poor audio, messy cables, a lack of power outlets, and more. The Hub 700 features a variety of ports underneath the Dolby Audio speakers, so cable management is simple.

Participants can connect devices to it in Collaboration and Pass-through Meeting Modes. The former allows multiple devices to be connected, and they can be viewed simultaneously, or one-by-one. Pass-through Meeting Mode allows for a single device to be connected using either the HDMI or the USB Type-A ports.

"More than 50% of employees expect to be working in a smart office in the next five years," said Christian Teismann, senior vice president and general manager, Lenovo Commercial Business Segment. "Lenovo is committed to invest and become a leader in smart office technology and help define these collaborative workspaces through innovative solutions that solve customer problems. The ThinkSmart Hub portfolio is a major step in driving better employee engagement and enabling smarter business."

The ThinkSmart Hub 700 has In-Room Sensors, which can detect if there are users in the room. When someone enters, it turns on the LED, the display, and the camera. After everyone leaves, it enters standby mode. And of course, it supports all of the popular services, like Skype for Business, Zoom, and BlueJeans.

Internally, the ThinkSmart Hub 700 features a Core i5-8350U processor, and it has 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, running Windows 10 IoT Enterprise.

Lenovo will be showing off the ThinkSmart Hub 700 at Infocomm this week.
