Lenovo announces the ThinkStations P330 family of workstations

Lenovo today announced the ThinkStation P330 family of workstations, promising the ability to perform "mission-critical tasks" with "superior reliability and performance". The P330 comes in three flavors: Tower, Small Form Factor (SFF), and Tiny.

The Tower and SFF models have a new mechanical design, which offers a 30% decrease in size. The Tiny variant has a chassis that"s just one liter, and you can hook it up to a variety of accessories and mounting options.

The big improvements that you"ll care about in a workstation, however, are in performance. The machines come with Intel"s eighth-generation Core or Xeon processors, which includes up to a 44% increase in performance. Intel"s new Core processors for desktops are hexa-core now instead of quad-core, which is where that performance boost comes from.

"The new Intel Xeon E processor delivers a powerful combination of performance and capabilities for entry workstations," said Jennifer Huffstetler, Vice President and General Manager of Datacenter Product Marketing, Intel Corporation. "With the addition of the Intel Xeon E processor to the Lenovo ThinkStation P330 family of professional workstation solutions, Lenovo continues to deliver the performance, capabilities and diverse requirements demanded by creative professionals around the world."

Of course, GPU performance is no slouch either. The P330 Tiny comes with up to Nvidia Quadro P1000 graphics, and the P330 Tower and SFF come with up to Quadro P4000 graphics.

All three models of the ThinkStation P330 family will be available in August.
