Lenovo today announced a number of interesting devices at the IFA 2016 conference. Alongside the Lenovo Book, the company showed off the Yoga 910 and Miix 510.
The Yoga 910 is a convertible, meaning that you"ll be able to bend the screen to any angle that fits your needs.
It will also be among the first PCs to use Intel"s latest 7th generation Kaby Lake processors. In fact, Lenovo claims that it"s the thinnest Core i-series laptop to date, coming in at 0.56-inches. Note that when Intel announced Kaby Lake yesterday, it killed off its Core m5 and m7 processors in favor of a new SKU of i5 and i7. Lenovo didn"t make it clear which Core i7 you can get in the Yoga 910, whether it"s a "real" i7 or the rebranded m7.
The company is also promising "up to 15.5 hours of battery life". Presumably, this will vary based on the type of display that you choose, as the device will be available in 1080p or 4K.
As you might expect from a laptop that starts at $1299, it does support Windows Hello with a fingerprint reader. The colors of aluminum unibody that you"ll be able to purchase are Champagne Gold, Platinum Silver and Gunmetal, and they"ll be available this October from Lenovo.com.
And then there"s the Miix 510, which is a detachable device, similar in form factor to Microsoft"s Surface Pro line of tablets.
Unlike the Yoga, the Miix 510 will be using Intel"s 6th generation Skylake chips, of which you can get up to a Core i7. It also promises up to 7.5 hours of battery life. According to the Windows Blog, it has a 2-inch touchscreen, although presumably it was meant to say 12-inches.
Perhaps the big selling point of the Miix 510 is that customers will have the option to purchase an LTE variant. Certainly, there aren"t many Core i-series devices that offer cellular connectivity, even in today"s increasingly connected world.
Like the Yoga, the Miix 510 will be available in October from Lenovo.com.
