Lenovo expands its SMB lineup with the ThinkBook 14 and 15

Back in May, Lenovo announced its new ThinkBook brand along with the 13s and 14s. Aimed at small- to medium-sized businesses (SMBs), it"s sort of like a ThinkPad alternative. It"s meant to take the best of ThinkPad and remove the things that aren"t for everyone, such as the TrackPoint, the black color, and so on.

Today, the company announced its first expansion of the lineup, including the ThinkBook 14 and ThinkBook 15. The internals are certainly beefier than the earlier ones, packing Intel"s 10th-generation "Comet Lake" CPUs, all the way up to the top-end hexa-core Core i7. They also come with dedicated graphics in the form of an AMD Radeon 620 in the 14 and an AMD Radeon 625 in the 15.

"ThinkBook is not just another laptop line-up. We designed ThinkBook specifically for the new workforce which comprises of Gen Z and millennials, with features and design that make it as easy and responsive as a smartphone," said Eric Yu, senior vice president and general manager, Lenovo SMB segment. "Not just that, ThinkBooks also ensure business-class performance and security needs are met, which frees the SMB IT manager from many hassles."

Both laptops include a fingerprint sensor in the power button, which will scan your fingerprint as you boot up the machine. There"s no need to press it again once it"s booted up. They include up to 1TB PCIe SSD storage and 2TB HDD in the dual drive option, along with DDR4 RAM.

The ThinkBook 14 and 15 will arrive in November, starting at $649 and $679, respectively. There are also refreshed models of the 13s and 14s with Comet Lake processors coming in November, starting at $729 and $749, respectively.
