Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7 with AMD Ryzen 4000 unboxing and first impressions

Lenovo"s Yoga Slim 7 is the successor to the S740, and in the U.S., it"s called the IdeaPad Slim 7. Announced back at CES, this one actually packs AMD"s Ryzen CPUs. In fact, AMD actually sent me this unit, rather than Lenovo.

This model has a Ryzen 7 4800U, an octa-core processor with 16 threads, as opposed to the Ryzen 7 4700U, which has eight threads. Apparently, this thing also has a 25W TDP, and on top of the 7nm nodes that Zen 2 is built on, there are some excellent internals here. And as I"ve pointed out several times before, it blows away anything that Intel is doing.

Aside from the chip, this laptop has a 14-inch FHD display, 16GB RAM, and a 512GB SSD. It also has some fun features, such as Glance by Mirametrix. Glance can do a variety of things, such as switch a window to a second screen just by moving your gaze, or it can blur your screen when you"re not looking at it. The IdeaPad Slim 7 also comes with Amazon Alexa.
