Today, Lenovo announced its new Yoga A12, which the company describes as "an affordable Android tablet made for all-day productivity". Of course, as you can see from above, it"s a 360-degree convertible device with the Halo keyboard, so it"s not just a tablet.
We first saw the Halo keyboard on the Yoga Book, which was released last year in Android and Windows flavors. The keyboard is a touchscreen, and it would allow the user to switch between that and a blank interface for pen input.
You"ll notice, however, that the icon to switch to pen input isn"t there on this model, so clearly, pens aren"t a focus on the A12.
Indeed, if the Yoga Book is the flagship model, this is the mid-range one. It includes an Atom x5 processor, 2GB RAM, and 32GB of internal storage, which can be compared to the Book"s 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. It also includes a 12.2-inch HD display, which is 2.1 inches larger than the Book, and should allow for better productivity.
It"s also really thin and light, coming in at just 5.4mm thick at its slimmest edge, and it weighs "less than one kilogram". The aluminum and magnesium body comes in Gunmetal Grey and Rose Gold, and you"ll be able to buy it from lenovo.com beginning on February 8 for $299.
