Lenovo refreshes its ThinkPad X- and T-series

ThinkPad X390

Typically, Lenovo refreshes its entire range of ThinkPads a few weeks ahead of CES in December. The company broke from tradition this year though, saving a bunch of models for Mobile World Congress. Today in Barcelona, the company announced the ThinkPad X390, X390 Yoga, T490, T490s, and T590.

As usual, they all offer up to an eighth-gen Intel Core i7 processor. The ThinkPad X390 promises a 13-inch display in the body of a 12-inch laptop, on account of 50% smaller bezels. It also offers global LTE and Intel Wi-Fi 6 Gig+. The laptop includes ThinkPad PrivacyGuard and an IR camera, which is a new feature this year that finally offers you both. Previously, users had to choose between one or the other.

ThinkPad X390 Yoga

The ThinkPad X390 Yoga is a similar machine, although it"s a 360-degree convertible. It"s 12% thinner and 5% lighter than the X380 Yoga with 16% thinner bezels. It now offers mechanical side-docking and far-field noise-canceling microphones for Amazon Alexa support.

ThinkPad T490

The ThinkPad T-series is meant to be a workhorse, and Lenovo says that it"s the best-selling ThinkPad. The 14-inch laptop adds Nvidia"s GeForce MX250 GPU, dual far-field microphones, up-firing speakers, ThinkPad PrivacyGuard, and a 22% thinner bezel. It"s also now offered with a QHD option with Dolby Vision.

ThinkPad T490s

The T490s is the thinner and lighter version of the T490. It offers the same features with Intel Wi-Fi 6 Gig+, a QHD Dolby Vision option, PrivacyGuard, and more, although there"s no option for dedicated graphics. It"s 13% thinner than the T480s, and it offers a new aluminum top for the silver variant.

ThinkPad T590

Finally, the T590 is the 15-inch model, also offering an option for an Nvidia GeForce MX250, up to 48GB DDR4 RAM, and up to 1TB PCIe SSD. It now offers RapidCharge, an option for a 4K Dolby Vision screen, and it"s 11% lighter than the T580.

All of these PCs are coming to the U.S. in June, with the X390 starting at $1,099, the X390 Yoga starting at $1,359, the T490 starting at $999, the T490s starting at $1,279, and the T590 starting at $1,029.

As for EMEA, the X390 is coming in April starting at €999, the X390 Yoga is coming in May starting at €1,149, the T490 is coming in March starting at €969, the T490s is coming in April starting at €1,099, and the T590 is coming in March, starting at €949. All prices are excluding VAT.

Lenovo also announced the ThinkVision M14, a 14-inch portable monitor. It connects with a single USB Type-C cable, and it even supports touch. The screen is 1080p and anti-glare, weighing in at 595g and coming in at 4.6mm thin. The ThinkVision M14 will be available in EMEA in June for €229 including VAT, and it will cost $249 in the U.S. with availability to be determined.
