Lenovo is now the biggest PC maker in the world and the company has no plans to slow down in terms of offering new laptop products. Today, as part of their CES 2014 announcements, the company revealed plans for a boatload of new notebooks, as well as new versions of existing models.
Perhaps the most interesting of the new laptops that Lenovo is introducing today are the Miix 2 10 and 11 models. Both of them have displays that detach from the keyboard and can be used as stand alone tablets. The Miix 2 10, with its 10.1 inch screen, will have an Intel Atom processor and up to 128GB of storage. The Miix 2 11 will have an 11.6 inch screen and a more powerful Intel Core i5 chip, along with support for up to 256GB of storage.
Both will have 1920x1080 displays, up to 8GB of RAM and up to eight hours of battery life. The Miix 2 10 will go on sale in March starting at $499 while the Miix 2 11 follows in April with the starting price of $699.
Lenovo has also revealed the Yoga 2, the next version of its Windows 8.1 notebook that can flip its display nearly 360 degrees to be used as a tablet. The Yoga 2 will come in 11 and 13 inch models, with the 11-inch version powered by Intel"s Bay Trail Pentium chips and the 13-inch model using the company"s Core i5 processors. The 11-inch Yoga 2 goes on sale in late January for the starting price of $549 while the 13-inch version follows in February with the price of $999.
The company also has a new version of its business-themed ThinkPad X1 Carbon notebook, which was first introduced nearly two years ago. The new model still uses a carbon fiber body that allows it to weigh just 2.8 pounds with its 14-inch display. The new version also has what Lenovo calls its Adaptive Keyboard, which "dynamically adjusts based on the software or application being used to highlight the most relevant keys." It also supports both voice and gesture commands. It goes on sale in late January for the starting price of $1,299.
