Gaming smartphones have gained popularity in recent years with companies like Asus and Razer launching multiple iterations of smartphones targeted at mobile gamers. Now, after months of leaks, Lenovo has finally revealed the launch date of its own gaming smartphone.
Lenovo posted a teaser on Chinese social media website Weibo (via TechRadar) which confirms 22nd July as the launch date for a Legion branded Lenovo smartphone. It looks like Lenovo may have been waiting for Snapdragon 865+ announcement which happened yesterday. However, Lenovo may be going head-to-head with Asus as the Legion gaming smartphone will launch on 22nd July at 7:30 AM ET while Asus will launch the ROG Phone 3 on the same day at 11 AM ET. Furthermore, like the Asus ROG Phone 3, Lenovo Legion gaming phone will also be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ SoC.
Apart from the SoC, there is not much known about the device at the moment. According to a recent Geekbench leak, the Legion gaming smartphone may come with a whopping 16 GB of RAM. Lenovo is also rumoured to add 90W fast charging to the Legion smartphone. There is no word on the pricing yet but seeing the specs, one can assume that Lenovo is not targeting the budget market with the Legion gaming phone.
