Last year, when I reviewed the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga with an OLED display, I said that it just might be the perfect laptop. That opinion hasn"t changed, but with this year"s line of ThinkPad X1 devices, there"s no OLED option. Instead, Lenovo has replaced it with Dolby Vision HDR.
I reviewed the third-gen ThinkPad X1 Yoga earlier this year with a 1080p display, and was unsurprised to be delighted by it. After all, even with the lesser display, this is an awesome convertible. The rechargeable pen is built into the device, and the keys retract when you fold the display back so they don"t get in the way in tablet mode.
But when Lenovo asked me if I wanted to review the Dolby Vision model, I jumped at it. After all, that OLED display last year ruined me for other displays, and I just had to see if Dolby Vision measures up. I did get a chance to put them side-by-side at CES, but I need to spend some proper time with them.
