Lenovo ThinkPad X390 unboxing and first impressions

Announced at Mobile World Congress this year, Lenovo"s ThinkPad X390 is the company"s top-end ThinkPad without going into the X1 lineup. This 13-inch machine comes in at only 2.6 pounds, and with narrow bezels on the sides, Lenovo says that it fits into a 12-inch footprint.

It"s 12% thinner and 5% lighter than its predecessor, which was actually the X380 Yoga. Last year"s model only saw a convertible from the X-series, so it makes sense that Lenovo was able to slim it down.

Update: Lenovo has updated its previous statement, noting that this unit"s predecessor is actually the ThinkPad X280, which frankly makes more sense. With the shrunken down bezels, the firm was able to fit a 13.3-inch screen into the body of a 12.5-inch laptop. The actual successor to the X380 Yoga, the X390 Yoga, will be out later this year.

This PC packs all of the features you need though. It has an IR camera combined with the ThinkShutter privacy guard. Of course, if the privacy guard is closed, you can always use the fingerprint sensor. It"s offered with top-end specs, like a Core i7-8565U from the Whiskey Lake family, 16GB RAM, and a 512GB SSD.

You can also get it configured with 4G LTE, so you can always be connected, and it comes with Wi-Fi 6, for the fastest Wi-Fi connectivity. Check out our unboxing video below:
