Lenovo Z6 Pro confirmed for debut this month in China, to be powered by Snapdragon 855

More than three months after unveiling its first smartphone with Qualcomm"s Snapdragon 855 SoC onboard, the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT, Lenovo is set to introduce its next-generation flagship device this month. An official from the Chinese tech company has confirmed via Weibo that the Lenovo Z6 Pro will debut sometime in April in China, powered by Qualcomm"s flagship chipset.

However, the teaser image posted on Weibo by Lenovo Vice President Edward Chang suggests that the upcoming handset may feature only a single camera, unlike the Z5 Pro GT or Z5 Pro which all came with a dual-camera setup on the back. In addition, it"s not immediately clear from the photo whether the Z6 Pro will embrace the slider design of its predecessors.

Recent rumors claim the upcoming phone will feature a HyperVision camera. This new type of shooter will enable the transfer of videos at a faster speed than the current standard, among other capabilities, as revealed by Chang during this year"s Mobile World Congress. Other expected features are the Super Night View and Super Steady Shot.

The device might also support 5G, although it"s not known for now if its battery capacity will be larger than that of its predecessors (3,350mAh) to meet the power consumption needs of the latest generation of cellular mobile communications. It will supposedly also include an in-display fingerprint sensor. Other key specs of the Z6 Pro are yet to be confirmed, but we"ll keep an eye out for Lenovo"s announcement in the next few weeks.
