In January, we got to see Lenovo"s rather cool looking IdeaPad Yoga PC for the first time at CES 2012. The product is a hybrid of an Ultrabook-based notebook with a tablet. The screen is designed to swivel so that you can use it as a regular notebook with a physical keyboard and then flip the screen around so you can use it as a rather large touch screen tablet.
The device was designed specifically to run Windows 8 but, as a new article in TabTimes reports, it"s going to be rather pricey to obtain the IdeaPad Yoga. The story says that it will be released in October but pricing, at least in the UK, will start at £1,199 (about $1,905) for the basic model. If you want one with a speedier Intel Core i7 processor, the IdeaPad Yoga will cost £1,500 in the UK (about $2,385).
Of course, the whole idea of an Ultrabook/tablet hybrid with a swivel screen is going to make the product more expensive than a regular Ultrabook or a tablet. Lenovo is also already known as a PC maker that sells its products for prices that are higher than those of, say, Dell or HP. Finally, prices for consumer sales in the UK typically add the value-added tax up front. It will be interesting to see if the IdeaPad Yoga will find an audience with it and Windows 8 launches this fall.
