LG Display has launched the latest OLED TV technology, OLED.EX, which uses its deuterium and personalized algorithm-based EX technology to aid in enhancing the display"s picture quality by magnifying brightness up to 30 percent as opposed to conventional OLED displays. The self-emissive nature of OLED displays allows OLED.EX to "achieve the perfect black, rich and accurate color expression as well as an extremely fast response time."
With the EX technology, OLED.EX is capable of attaining enhanced stability and efficiency of the organic light-emitting diode that results in augmented display performance. This technology also brings improved levels of picture accuracy, and brightness to provide realistic details, colors, and no distortion.
Executive Vice President & Head of the TV Business Unit, Dr. Oh Chang-ho stated:
Despite the global TV market experiencing a 12 percent decline this year, we still observed a 70 percent growth in OLED sales. With our new OLED.EX technology, we aim to provide even more innovative, high-end customer experiences through the evolution of our OLED technology, algorithms and designs.
EX technology has also enabled LG Display to reduce bezel thickness from 6mm to 4mm based on 65-inch OLED displays. The reduction of the bezel thickness by 30 percent allows OLED.EX display to deliver an enhanced immersive viewing experience. The stable deuterium compounds applied to OLED.EX enable the display to emit brighter light.
Beginning from the second quarter of 2022, LG Display aims to strengthen its product competitiveness by incorporating OLED.EX technology into all OLED TV displays produced at its OLED production plants in Paju, South Korea, and in Guangzhou, China.
