LG has made a few interesting gaming monitors in the past under the UltraGear brand, and today the company is unveiling the 27GN950, the world"s first 4K IPS monitor with a 1ms gray-to-gray (GTG) response time.
As far as the aspect ratio goes, the 27GN950 is a pretty standard 16:9 monitor, but not only does it sport 4K (3840 x 2160) resolution, it also supports refresh rates up to 144Hz with a 1ms response time. The monitor is certified for AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and it"s also attained G-Sync Compatible certification.
In terms of color, the display covers 98% of the DCI-P3 color space, and it supports 10-bit color depth for a total of 1.07 billion colors. It has a typical brightness of 400 nits and it has VESA"s DisplayHDR 600 certification. It comes with both HDMI and DisplayPort inputs, and if you use DisplayPort, you can get 4K video with 10-bit color at 144Hz with a single cable thanks to VESA display stream compression (DSC).
The LG UltraGear 27GN950 will be available in most markets starting today. While LG isn"t disclosing a price, a listing on Currys PC World in the UK suggests it will cost £749.00, which is roughly equivalent to $950.
