A bit of new information has hit the web, stating that the upcoming LG V30 will ditch its secondary display. While it doesn"t mention why the firm would be going in this direction, there is speculation that it will offer a display similar to what can be found on the G6 with an 18:9 aspect ratio. Should LG take this approach, the extra vertical real estate making the secondary screen redundant.
The secondary ticker display has been an iconic feature of the V-series handsets that started two years ago with the V10. While many questioned the firm"s decision, it made sense to try and free up precious screen real estate by employing a second smaller screen, that could handle incoming notifications, music toggles, and more. Interestingly enough, HTC even managed to "borrow" the idea from its competitor with its U Ultra, that has a similar design.
Currently, there isn"t much information about the V30 when it comes to its looks. But, the device should arrive with a Qualcomm"s Snapdragon 835 processor that might be paired with 6GB RAM. The device could also make use of a curved OLED display, which will be a first for a top-tier LG smartphone.
Luckily, we might not have to wait long at all for the official release. LG could be holding an event at IFA in Berlin, and while some might be disappointed with the new direction, if the company sticks to its earlier plans, there is the possibility that it could be one of the most interesting handsets to debut this year.
