It wasn"t long ago that LG revealed its latest handset to the world at Mobile World Congress. The G6 is a completely different offering from the previous model, and puts form and functionality, front and center. The handset just made its retail debut in the US, though it appears that the G6 won"t be entering China, as the firm has no plans to release it in that country.
According to news outlet BusinessKorea, LG has decided not to release the latest flagship in China due to "intense competition". The firm also stated that its low market share in that specific region led to the "realistic and strategic decision".
For those curious, the G6 specifications have been listed below:
- 5.7-inch Full Vision QHD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor
- 4GB RAM
- Dual 13MP rear camera with 5MP front-facing camera
- 3300 mAh battery with wireless charging
- Fingerprint reader
- 3.5mm headphone jack
- Android 7.0 Nougat with Google Assistant
Although the company is avoiding China, LG will still face stiff competition around the word from its South Korean rival, Samsung. The firm recently unveiled its Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, with plans to make it available to retail in mid-April. Although the Galaxy devices offer the latest when it comes to technology, the G6 still offers respectable internals, and is also priced a couple hundred dollars lower. LG has even gone the extra mile to entice potential buyers by offering a free Google Home, and even a free TV if ordered from Verizon and Sprint.
