LG unveils Objet and StanbyME artsy TVs and it's taking them to CES 2022

LG has today unveiled its latest Lifestyle TVs, the LG Objet and LG StanbyME. The Korean firm has designed these unusual TVs for “today’s home-centric way of life”. While it’s revealing these devices today via an announcement, it will wait until CES 2022 for the full unveiling; you’ll be able to visit the special CES 2022 page on LG’s website on January 4th at 8 a.m. PST to see the official reveal.

While we do not have any pricing details for these TVs, we do have some vivid descriptions including some of the specs.

LG Objet TV (65Art90)

With the LG Objet TV, customers get a canvas-like TV with a minimalist design and neutral colours. Interestingly, the remote allows viewers to slide a fabric cover over the screen as much or as little as they want. Lowering the cover provides the full viewing experience, while partially covering the display will limit you to a curated selection of lifestyle functions.

The fabric covers are interchangeable, you can pick from Kvadrat Beige, Kvadrat Redwood, or Kvadrat Green. LG said that each of the colours have been carefully picked to blend with a wide range of interior designs. Unlike other TVs, the Objet is designed to be stood against a wall at a 5-degree angle like a piece of artwork. If you don’t think you’ll need to move the TV, you can install it flush against the wall.

Describing the display, LG said:

“In Full View mode, LG Objet TV’s 65-inch OLED evo panel and advanced processor offer a stunning viewing experience making content of any genre come to life with vivid, accurate color expression and exceptional contrast. Along with superb picture quality, the premium TV boasts a 80W, 4.2-channel sound system that delivers movie theater-like audio to ensure complete viewer immersion. When set to Line View, the TV can help users stay on track throughout the week with Date & Clock, transform into a convenient audio player in Music setting or display a collection of exclusive space and nature-themed images when set to Gallery.”

LG StanbyME (27Art10)

Similar to the Objet, the StanbyME is designed to be portable. The display is attached to a movable stand with hidden wheels. Thanks to a battery pack, it can be moved to different parts of the house for up to three hours between charges providing “the ultimate in viewing freedom”. To make it portable, the StanbyME makes do with a 27-inch display.

To give you more access to content, the StanbyME allows you to stream content from your smartphone using Mobile Screen Mirroring. The technology uses NFC, so make sure your device is compatible. Compatible phones can be popped on top of the TV to begin streaming content. If you don’t have an NFC-enabled phone, you can connect your PC using a wired (USB, HDMI) or wireless connection.

Hopefully, LG will have more information for us in the way of pricing and specifications when it unveils the products at CES 2022.
