LG has released dedicated displays for Apple products in the past, and if you thought Apple"s Pro Display XDR was gonna change that, it looks like that won"t be the case. Today, LG introduced two new UltraFine display models designed to work with products such as last year"s iPad Pro or the Mac.
The higher-end model offers a 27-inch display with 5K resolution (5120x2880), resulting in 218 pixels per inch. It has a Thunderbolt 3 port which can not only be used for display output but also supports 94W of power delivery, so you can use it to charge devices such as an iPad or MacBook. It also includes three additional USB Type-C ports to connect other devices, and it even has a built-in camera.
The UltraFine 4K display, on the other hand, offers two Thunderbolt 3 ports, so you can daisy-chain two displays with a Mac. The ports also provide 85W of charging power to compatible devices. It includes the three additional USB Type-C ports as well, but it does not have a built-in camera.
The two devices share some of the specs, including the 500-nit brightness and support for the P3 wide color gamut. They"re also both natively supported by macOS, so you can adjust display brightness and volume for the built-in speakers without the need for additional physical buttons. Of course, as most professional monitors do, the tow models include height and tilt adjustment for better viewing angles.
Both LG UltraFine displays are now available from the Apple Store, with the 4K variant costing $699.95 and the 5K model going up to $1,299.95.
