LG V30 put through a gauntlet of durability tests

The LG V30 was first announced towards the tail end of August and finally made its retail debut just a couple weeks ago. While the handset does look quite nice, it remains to be seen just how sturdy it is and whether it can handle an unusual amount of abuse.

The device is a beautiful piece of hardware offering a near bezel-less front display, mirrored back finish, and full metal chassis. For this reason, you can expect the V30 to be able to withstand quite a pummeling, and it does. The front is protected by Corning"s Gorilla Glass 5, while the rear is protected using Gorilla Glass 4. For the most part, the rear looks to be fairly resistant to most normal abuse, but the handset"s fingerprint reader seems to be a bit more sensitive, failing to work after receiving quite a bit of damage.

As you might expect from a smartphone that uses metal, the smartphone powers through like a champ during the bend test, showing minor flex, but never caving under pressure. The LG V30 is now available from most major wireless carriers in the United States and start at $800.
