LG"s upcoming flagship, the V20, will sport 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC capabilities, with the company promising the device will be heavily focused on media experiences. The handset is also expected to feature a secondary display, similar to its predecessor.
Last year’s V10 phone from LG turned a few heads by offering a secondary display on top of the regular screen. This allowed users quick access to media controls and a few other functions. The device was also designed with media consumption in mind, and LG touted its high-quality audio capabilities. Now it looks like the company is doubling down on those traits with this year’s upcoming V20.
LG says that the new V20 will offer exquisite sound recording and playback capabilities thanks to the Quad DAC (digital to analog converter) that will be integrated in the device. Juno Cho, president of LG Electronics and Mobile Communications explained the company’s vision:
As smartphones mature, we’re seeing more and more customers looking beyond just fast processors and big displays in their devices,” said Juno Cho, president of LG Electronics and Mobile Communications Company. “Higher quality audio is simply the natural evolution of the smartphone, as the industry moves toward a more holistic multimedia consumption experience. We’re pleased to continue this long-term partnership with ESS and bring best in class audio to LG V20 users.
LG promised that the V20 will “set new standards” in the mobile phone industry, but the device will have an extra claim to fame, as the V20 is expected to be the first device on the market to run Android Nougat 7.0. The LG V20 will officially be revealed on September 6th at an event in San Francisco.
