London To Get First Music Download Vending Machines

Next month London will be the first to see vending machines that sell music downloads. This comes in response to low traditional "over-the-counter" sales of singles as well as the music industry"s desire to turn file-sharers into customers.

Individuals will be able to download a single for about one pound onto a mobile phone or personal music player and the company launching the project said on Monday they hoped to initially offer two million songs.

Waterloo and King"s Cross stations will be the first to see two music kiosks and Inspired Broadcast Networks plans to have up to 20,000 others in high-street shops, service stations and pubs by the end of 2005.
