At Microsoft"s Build 2017 developer conference, the company announced that the next Windows 10 feature update, codenamed Redstone 3, will be called the Fall Creators Update. It"s a very US-centric name, given that the fall season is referred to as autumn in other parts of the world, and in the southern hemisphere, that part of the year is spring.
But still, Microsoft confirmed to us at Build that indeed, it will be called the Fall Creators Update everywhere. That"s why we found it a bit strange earlier this week when it emerged that some regions would get the Autumn Creators Update.
As it turns out, that"s not true at all, despite the fact that the Autumn Creators Update was specifically mentioned in Microsoft"s UK "Coming to Windows 10" page (which is back to saying Fall). The company cited "mistranslation" - from English to English, as Ars Technica pointed out - as the reason for the misunderstanding.
The Windows 10 Fall Creators Update should be version 1709, slating it to be finalized in September for a public release this fall.
