Microsoft currently has 83 large and specialty retail stores open in the U.S and Canada and has announced plans to open four more locations in the near future. However, a quick look at the company"s career page shows that it is hiring for store managers in a number of previously unannounced locations, including some states in the U.S. that have never had a Microsoft Store.
One listing shows an opening for a store manager in Knoxville, Tennessee, while another shows Microsoft is hiring for a similar position in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This would be the first locations for Microsoft Stores in both states.
In addition, the careers page shows store manager and other retail positions are open in other U.S. locations that don"t currently have a Microsoft Store. They include Lexington, Kentucky, Tucson, Arizona, Boise, Idaho, Des Moines, Iowa, Columbia, Maryland, Omaha, Nebraska, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Thousand Oaks, California, Brea, California, and Alpharetta, Georgia.
Microsoft still has not announced any concrete plans to open stores outside of North America. In 2013, the company did reveal general plans to open a series of stores in China but since then there has been no updates on those preparations.
