When Microsoft first launched the Surface 3 in April, it promised an unlocked version of the LTE model to come soon. While we are still waiting for that, certain parts of Europe already have an LTE model available and a new report suggests that the US could be next in line, with availability expected to start within 2 weeks.
It might, however, dampen the enthusiasm of some to know that the report also claims that only AT&T has been confirmed as a supported carrier and that there is no information about other carriers" plans. Pricing and configuration information has not been confirmed, either, though it is fairly likely that the 64GB and 128GB models will go on sale.
The Surface 3 is the latest in Microsoft"s line of first party hardware, the less powerful sibling to its acclaimed Surface Pro 3, with an Intel Atom x7 processor, a 1080p screen with a 4:3 ratio, an 8MP rear camera and up to 4GB of RAM. It also comes with an optional keyboard cover and pen for increased productivity. Pricing for the base model with 64GB of internal storage starts at $499 and you can expect a $100-150 premium for the LTE model.
