LulzSec and Anonymous suspects arrested

The massive amount of hack attacks by groups such as LulzSec and Anonymous earlier this summer may be coming back to haunt the people involved. News.com reports that Cody Andrew Kretsinger, a 23 year old from Phoenix, Arizona, was arrested on Thursday on charges that he participated in SQL injection attacks last May.  His alleged target was the web site of Sony Pictures Entertainment. The attack exposed confidential info from the site, according to the indictment, and that info was later posted on Twitter and on a public web site.

Meanwhile, Fox News reports that Christopher Doyon, 47, of Mountain View, California, and Joshua Covelli, 26, of Fairborn, Ohio were also charged on Thursday with law enforcement officials claiming that the men launched a denial of service attack on the servers run by the county of Santa Cruz in California back in 2010. The men are allegedly part of the People"s Liberation Front which has associations with the Anonymous hacking group.

In related news, Anonymous has posted up a note on the Pastebin web site declaring that Saturday, September 24 will be a "Day Of Vengeance". According to the note, " ... Anonymous and other cyber liberation groups will launch a series of cyber attacks against various targets including Wall Street, Corrupt Banking Institutions - and the NYC Police Department." Anonymous says it taking such action as a protest against the New York City Police Department. Anonymous claims the police used abusive force against protesters who have been encamped in the Wall Street section of the city for the past several days.
