In October, Microsoft appointed German customer care specialist B2X as its new official global service partner for its Lumia and feature phones. B2X said that it would release a "self-help app" for owners of Microsoft"s Windows phones, and that app is now available to download.
The app is designed for Windows Phone 8.1, but is also compatible with Windows 10 Mobile devices. B2X says that the app "helps to identify the potential source of an issue and provides first steps to resolve it." The app will also make it easier for users to contact B2X customer care if they need further assistance with a hardware issue that can"t be easily resolved.
According to the Windows Store description, the app"s key features include:
- Diagnose your Lumia phone’s hardware and software
- Chat with a B2X support agent for immediate help
- Request a callback from a B2X support agent
- Find the nearest service point
- Get all Lumia device information at a glance
- Analyse your Lumia’s battery health status
- Check your Lumia’s warranty status
- Keep track of your repair status
If you purchased a Lumia smartphone within the last six months, you can also purchase B2X"s new "SmartProtect" premium service. The company says that it "offers Lumia customers an extension of the limited manufacturer"s warranty in combination with a smartphone insurance." Owners can get a one- or two-year plan to protect their devices against:
- (Display) Breakage
