The Lumia 530 is Microsoft"s most affordable Windows Phone ever, and it has been gradually rolling out to markets around the world in recent weeks, including Vietnam, India and the United Kingdom. It"s headed to the US too, and is rumored to cost just $69 when it launches on T-Mobile.
But the low-cost handset will be even more affordable than that when it launches on Cricket Wireless tomorrow, October 3. The carrier has announced that it will offer the Lumia 530 both online and in its stores for just $49.99 with no annual contract commitment. Cricket adds that the "$49.99 price requires activation of [a] qualified wireless service".
Key features of the Lumia 530 include:
- 4-inch FWVGA (854x480px) LCD
- Quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200
- 512MB RAM
- 4GB storage (plus microSD support up to 128GB)
- 5MP fixed-focus rear camera
- 1430mAh battery
- 119.7 x 62.3 x 11.7mm; 129g
Before you buy, don"t forget that the Lumia 530 has no front-facing camera, so if you"re planning to make video calls, or you"re a bit selfie-obsessed, you"ll have to consider an alternative device.
